Edinburgh Eco Fair Returns

Back in 2015, the Greenpeace Edinburgh group shaped a vision to create the Eco Fair. It was a small-scale event, with 25 stalls and a few hundred visitors.

The Eco Fair has since flourished, nearly doubling its stalls with over 1200 attendees in 2018 and this free event is now back with a bang this year!

Are you keen to make more ethical choices as a consumer? Are you confused when it comes to living sustainably? Are you eager to stand up and make a difference in the world?

Then the Edinburgh Eco Fair is for you!

Running for a fifth consecutive year, the Eco Fair is a great opportunity to get hands-on to adopt an eco-friendlier lifestyle. Encompassing a huge variety of stalls from green businesses and charities to exciting crafting workshops, live music and a bountiful clothes swap – there’s something for everyone at this autumn’s event.

Purchasing ethically has only become more complicated over the past few years, leading to a host of different questions regarding ethical labour, materials sources and carbon footprints. The Eco Fair is here to help us learn and make more sustainable choices in our everyday lives.

We’ll be joined by many innovative local companies, providing a range of excellent and versatile products for sustainable living. Whether you’re looking for plastic-free packaging, organic produce, vegan cosmetics or recycled gifts, you’ll find what you need at our assorted stalls. Explore a selection of Fairtrade crafts from people all over the world and make sure to try out the array of tasty treats on offer.

Interested in getting crafty? Join one of our arty workshops and get those creative juices flowing. Come along to wooden flower carving with Alien Spoons. Try out the unique Nordic-slinging technique to make friendship bracelets out of hemp and find out more about this surprisingly versatile fibre. If you’re stuck for original gift ideas, or simply need a handy tool, making a beautiful willow frame basket may be for you.

The natural world is currently more vulnerable than ever before and there’s no better time to take effective action to save it. Our Eco Fair is an ideal opportunity to start making individual change, with numerous different charities taking part. Whatever your interests, the Eco Fair will be an extraordinary chance to be inspired and to find out more.

So how can you join in? You’ll find us at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall on Saturday 2nd November, from 10am-4pm. Entry to the Fair is FREE, and there’s plenty of fun for the whole family to enjoy. Feel free to pop in for a bit, or spend hours here exploring – we look forward to seeing you there!
