Newbattle Abbey Collegehas hosted an evening reception at the Scottish Parliament in celebration of its 75th Anniversary, with support from sponsor MSP, Jean Urquhart and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Mike Russell MSP. The event was held at Holyrood on Tuesday 25th September and was attended by over one hundred people including education representatives from acrossScotland.

Unscrupulous Thieves, Wild Beasts and a Mum Swapper are Shortlisted for the Kelpies Prize 2012

Edinburgh-based Floris Books is pleased to announce this year’s shortlist for the Kelpies Prize. The annual prize is for previously unpublished works of fiction, set wholly or mainly in Scotland, for children aged 8 to 12. Since the deadline at the end of February, the judges have been busy reading their way through a large number of manuscripts, to decide on a final three.

Six out of Ten Renters don’t know about Tenancy Deposit Protection

The National Landlords Association (NLA) is reminding landlords and letting agents in Scotland that from the 2nd of July 2012 it is mandatory to protect their tenants’ deposits, but six in ten tenants (63 per cent) in Scotland say they are not aware of Tenancy Deposit Protection (TDP) legislation, according to research from my|deposits Scotland, published today.

A gold crown presented to Queen Victoria in 1862 has long been described as a unique survivor and symbol of power from the Inca civilization. But new research reveals that the object’s origins may be even more intriguing than previously thought.

Treat it, a campaign to raise awareness of a lung disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been launched by NHS Lothian in collaboration with Livingston Football Club to help find people in West Lothian who may have the disease, but are unaware of it.
