The provocatively named drag kings bring their farewell tour to Edinburgh, along with their message of solidarity with the ladies- but only the 10/10 ones in the front row…
Brendan, Also Brendan, Brandon and Tyler have landed from the House of Oz’s Fringe strand to perform their greatest hits, with their long-suffering manager Michaela in tow. Bounding onto the stage in traditional baggy boyband attire, they launch into an ode to late-night messaging ‘r u up’ that descends into a mess of downright lewd emoji. The weekend audience are very much up for whooping and waving posters at the boys, especially when the increasingly randy Tyler launches himself into the crowd to grind in front of an unsuspecting lady!
Anyone who crushed on a 90s boyband will laugh and cringe in equal measure at the Fuccbois’ antics. Bridie Connell has assembled a pitch-perfect parody of the era, rampant sexism and all the other red flags that come with toxic masculinity. From a song literally called Gaslight Shanty to the Latin-tinged Loca and an appearance from a very famous Aussie singer, the Fuccbois’ ‘feminism’ starts to fall apart faster than their friendship. As Michaela is forced to step in to smooth things over and Also Brendan begins to have one too many existential crises mid-song, can the boys last until the end of the concert?
I didn’t stop laughing for the whole hour and I left with their songs in my head; if you’d like a taste of what to expect their album is on Spotify, but I recommend the full live experience. You’ll be a fan in no time.
