On Monday evening I had the pleasure of joining some of Scotland’s best travel editors, journalists, writers and bloggers on-board the Silver Wind, which was docked adjacent to HRH Britannia at Ocean Terminal.
Silversea is a family run company whose principles and values are richly rooted in their Italian heritage. With the belief that smaller is superior their fleet of 9 ships cater for between 296 and 596 guests on a range of voyages and expeditions around the globe.   The luxurious and personal touches are unrivalled with a butler service for every suite, a choice of mattress, a pillow menu, Bvlgari bathing products and endless other personalised details to ensure a truly bespoke experience for guests.
There is a sense of intimacy and almost a family feel as we move around the different decks on the Silver Wind. Our tour begins on Deck 8 where we find the pool, Jacuzzis and the Poolside bar and restaurant – perfect for a spot of Al Fresco dining.  There’s also enough loungers for every guest on board, so there’s no need rush out and pop down your towel to claim your spot!
Down on deck 6 we find a warm and welcoming Show Lounge – with a stage that plays host to high quality entertainment including soloists from the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia. You’ll also find a well-equipped casino, luxury boutiques, the Spa at Silversea and various lounges to help you relax in true and elegant style.  And before I forget to mention…it’s all inclusive!!!
As we are seated for dinner we are served a glass of Chardonnay and a beautiful Merlot, chosen specifically to compliment the menu of the evening. I choose Flaxseed and Chia seed crusted crab cakes to start and they are bursting with flavour and oozing delicious crabmeat.
For the main I decide on Oven Roasted Beef Striploin, medium cooked, to perfection, and served with gratin potatoes and asparagus and roasted vegetables. It was divine! To finish I enjoy a Cioccolatini selection with coffee, whilst nice, I have to be honest and say I wish I had opted for the revisited black forest cake…it looked fantastic.
So as I move towards the end of a lovely evening I realise that if I am ever to go on a voyage or more likely an expedition then truly, Silversea’s is the way I want to go!
