Last Sunday saw Jacqui Dunbar, Photographer, and three friends embark on a tastebud-tingling trip around the globe, as the Hard Rock Café, Edinburgh, promoted their World Burger Tour 2016…
Just in time for lunch we were treated to some top notch burgers in a restaurant with the mission to: “Love All – Serve All” by offering fresh, handmade classic American cooking with a Southern flair.
With the chef on board to take us on the ingredients tour of the forthcoming meaty delicousness, and a cocktail in hand to complement each one, we set off to explore the menu…
The fresh light flavours of mint, Monteray Jack cheese and crisp cucumber planks covering a tandoori-seasoned chicken burger, topped with iceberg lettuce and tomato, comprised the Tandoori Chicken Burger from Mumbai, India.
Then, from Chicago, Illinois came the Giardiniera Deli Burger, made with a generous amount of sliced roast beef, roasted red pepper, giardiniera pepper and melted provolone cheese.
The Jamaican Jerk Burger has been inspired by Montego Bay; a smooth and spicy fusion of mango and jalapeño cream cheese, and jerk mayo, banana peppers and iceberg lettuce chilli on an all-beef patty sandwiched between a buttered and toasted bun.
So far, so delicious, but the firm favourite on our team was undoubtedly the Java Lava Burger all the way from Seattle, WA. This beauty perked up with an espresso rub and was topped with melted cheddar, bacon, jalapeño java sauce, java onions, arugula and sliced tomatoes.  It was our outright winner and was perfectly complimented by a little Hendricks gin cocktail or two!
I can highly recommend these burgers… catch them while they’re touring! But I would also suggest – do so when you are really hungry as the portion sizes are pretty big.  It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and we wandered out into the sunshine well fed and refreshed.
