Spring Forward
The days are just a little  longer, the light a touch clearer, and the clocks have gone forward: spring is officially here. Midlothian poet and artist, Jacqueline McDonnell celebrates by putting some colour into our lives over this early Easter break.
PINK DOG
Shadows in a landscape, sunset dog at heel.
HENRY
Henry,
the Basenji,
yodels but does not bark,
speaks his own hypnotic language
breaks hearts.

Mindful Spring
My mind
meditative
sitting so quietly
watching Buddha under the tree
dripping.
Dripping
but sheltered
by the burgeoning  cherry
waiting for sun to come
yearning.
Yearning
for cold to pass
for lighter mornings and
warmer days to open pink buds
of hope.
