Roomwise was created to provide an accommodation website for people to market their properties to guests seeking interesting places to stay. The idea behind the business is to provide visitors to a new area with detailed local knowledge about where to stay and what to see, eat and do. Customers can read about the best an area in Scotland has to offer and book the accommodation that best suits their plans.
Brian Gruber, Managing Director of Roomwise Ltd. explains how the idea came to him. “I’m originally from a small rural town outside of Chicago called Barrington, IL. I came over to Edinburgh to do an MBA in International Business and after graduating I decided Scotland was the best place to pursue my idea for a new approach to free time planning and travel accommodation.”
Brian’s plan is to build a network of new demand for accommodation providers by increasing the amount of domestic travel in Scotland through free distribution of event information and property promotion. Essentially, owners can have their B&B, country estate, or private residence added to Roomwise’s hundreds of promotional pages for free and Roomwise take care of the rest.
Brian adds, “I’m particularly eager to explain to event coordinators how Roomwise can help them increase their event attendance. 12 months from now I’d like to be partnered with every event in Scotland – from the big ones like the Fringe, to the small ones like the Killin Scarecrow Competition I visited last weekend – so that every weekend our users have 100+ ideas for things they could attend, and all our event partners have higher attendance rates.”
The Roomwise website includes information about local neighbourhoods or events that are up-and-coming. Examples include a feature on Stockbridge or an article about the International Storytelling Festival.
Anyone looking for accommodation, that provides more than just a bed for the night, can contact Roomwise and see what they can suggest. It might be a business person in town for a night, a couple coming to Edinburgh for a short- break, or a family gathering for a special occasion over a weekend.
Hosting a family party, for example, could be held in a stately home like Elvingston, pictured above. Set in 75 acres of private estate in the heart of East Lothian, this unique accommodation is the self contained apartment on the top floor of a Jacobean Country mansion. There are 5 spacious bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, a lounge/dining room and two bathrooms with many lovely features including the original roll-top bath tubs. While there, guests can join the owners heading off the coast to catch dinner, tasting the estate’s own honey, picking their own plums and meeting the resident horses, geese, peacocks, dogs, chickens, and the friendliest pair of sheep you’ve ever met!
Roomwise is still actively seeking accommodation owners to build an even more fantastic portfolio of properties. And if you are looking for somewhere to stay, why not let Roomwise take the work out of your search by phoning, or emailing your requirements to firstname.lastname@example.org
