Don’t be a party pooper. If you’re thinking of holding any kind of party these days, it is only polite to provide your guests with a non-alcoholic option. However gone are the days when responsible drivers and teetotallers had to make do with a humble glass of orange juice or a can of cola.
Now there is no need for your abstaining party guests to feel left out of the fun, as you can create a range of non-alcoholic beverages to suit every palate. And what is more, even your alcohol-guzzling party pals will be hard pushed to know the difference.
If the most exciting non-alcoholic drink you can think of is a glass of milk then you might need a little help. But don’t worry as we have compiled a list of non-alcoholic cocktails and drinks that are easy to make and guaranteed to get your non-drinking friends into the party spirit.
Tropical Island
Ingredients:
2 oz. Lime juice
2 oz. Lemon juice
3 oz Pineapple juice
1/2 oz. Grenadine
Cracked ice
Method:
Stir together Grenadine and fruit juices. Pour entire contents over cracked ice.
Serves one.
Tropical Shake
Ingredients:
6 oz cream coconut
2 1/2oz crushed pineapple
16 fl oz of chilled milk
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla
Method:
Blend together the first four ingredients then add the sugar and vanilla and blend again.
Serves four.
Orangeberry Punch
Ingredients:
2 litres Cranberry juice
1 litre Orange juice
Juice of 4 large lemons
6 litres Ginger ale
Method:
Make sure all the juices are chilled and just pour into a large bowl with cracked ice. Serves a lot.
Orangeberry Tonic
Ingredients:
2 oz. Tonic water
3 oz. Orange juice
3 oz Cranberry juice
Method:
Mix together and pour over ice.
Serves one.
Virgin Pina Colada
Ingredients:
7 oz pineapple juice
2 oz coconut cream
8 oz crushed ice
Method:
Add the pineapple juice, coconut cream and crushed ice to a blender; blend at high speed. Pour into a collins glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, a pineapple wedge, and serve.
Serves one.
Strawberry Lemonade
Ingredients:
Juice of one lemon
1 tbsp sugar
8 – 10 ripe strawberries
8 fl oz water
Method:
Throw everything into a blender and mix until fairly smooth. Serve over ice.
Serves two.
Elephant charger
Ingredients:
2 oz orange juice
2 oz milk
1 ripe peach
1 very ripe banana
1/4 cup raspberries
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
Method:
Peel and slice the peach, chop the banana and add to a blender. Add orange juice, milk, raspberrries and ice cream, and blend well. Pour into a collins glass, and serve.
Serves one.
Coconut banana cocktail
Ingredients:
2 oz milk
3/4 oz cream
3/4 oz coconut cream
3/4 oz banana syrup
Method:
Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker, strain into a large highball glass over crushed ice, and serve.
Serves one.
