Whistle While You Work in these Cosy Socks

If you’re looking for a tough pair of socks that will be warm and comfortable all day, you don’t need to look much further than the Workforce brand.

Their basic socks come with a cushioned sole and ribbed ankle for extra support, without being too tight. Wearing them all day while doing a kitchen conversion they did all that was required inside my rather worn-out boots, giving me more comfort and warmth while the heating was off and doors were open. Made from 80% Cotton 18% Polyamide and 2% Elastane they are nothing special, just a good pair of socks that do what they promise and at £7 ish for a pack of two, very good value.

Workforce welly socksI also tried the Workforce Welly socks, a longer length design to be worn with wellington boots. You can get ‘welly socks’ which are long enough to fold over the top of your wellies, thus avoiding any danger of them slipping down inside and rucking, but these weren’t that long. They just fit under the knee but are sufficiently well designed to stay up.  Made from high looped density fibres and 40% wool for added warmth, they are comfortable for work and play and I’d wear them with walking boots on the hill too. There are 100% wool socks out there and thicker ones but for £4 a pair these are, again, very good value.
