Witch Silver

When Lady Meriel, guardian of the magic talisman which controls the earth, wind and snow witches, dies, there is all sorts of desperate trickery as her potential successors search for the hidden talisman.

Witch Silver is the fifth book in Anne Forbes’ Neil and Clara stories, and continues with themes of magic, witches and dragons. No strangers to magic, Neil and Clara find themselves at the centre of  the search, despite moving from Edinburgh to their aunt’s old house in the Borders.

With the help of their old friend the Macarthur, who lives inside Arthur’s Seat, and a friend of their aunt, who is good at crosswords, they must first find the talisman then stop it from falling into the wrong hands.

It’s hard to find a children’s book these days which doesn’t involve magic or vampires, but fans of the first four books will still be delighted with this latest book for 8-12 year olds from the popular Edinburgh author, as they learn that no one is all bad or all good.

  1. Hi Suse,

Many thanks for the crit on Witch Silver. I’ve just finished a series of talks rounds the Borders which
has been lovely. The next book in the series will be
the last — bit sad really as I’ve grown fond of my characters! Hope you’re well,
    Yours,
    Anne.
