Walks in the Lammermuirs – Alan Hall
This Cicerone pocket guide is so much more than a book of walks. It is packed full of information designed to make the 40 featured walks easy and enjoyable such as alternative routes and things to see and do along the way.
Simple maps and photographs enhance the walks and there is also information on the wildlife, geology and history of the area, as well as weather statistics.
One of the biggest attractions of walking in this area is its anonymity, by which I mean that it is largely underestimated and unexplored by hordes from the south who seek nothing less than a ‘munro’.
The book was written in 1996, so information on access is out of date, but that is readily available elsewhere and keen walkers will already ‘know the code’.
