Britannia Spice is located in Leith, convenient for the Royal Yacht Britannia (sightseeing), Ocean Terminal (shopping) and Scottish Executive (working), and served by frequent buses from Edinburgh city centre. It is a critically-acclaimed restaurant, offering multi-ethnic cuisine - Indian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Thai menus. Britannia Spice’s most recent award was at the British Curry Awards ceremony in September last year, when it won Best Restaurant in Scotland; again!

Oysters and a Pearl of a Club

If you mention oysters to most people the reaction is either “yummy” or “yeuch” with little, or nothing, in between. The original Oyster Club was founded by James Hutton, often said to be the father of the science of geology and among the first to theorise about the antiquity of our planet. He, Joseph Black a chemistry scientist and the famous economist and author Adam Smith established the Oyster Club as a weekly meeting for Edinburgh intellectuals as well as visiting thinkers like James Watt and Benjamin Franklin.

First Impressions at Scotch Mist

Whether you’re looking for an economical business lunch, a pre-theatre treat or a family party in the private dining room, Peter’s Cellars has the answer.
First impressions of the cosy, 45 cover restaurant, Scotch Mist at Peter’s Cellars, in William Street, are created by the warm welcome from front of house staff. On the evening we went there, Bart, the Polish waiter, was at his most charming and we had a choice of tables in the ‘open’ half of the restaurant or in the more intimate area, which has booths separated by tartan curtains.
