Vibrant, Contemporary Art Bursting With Colour

Trevor Jones is a young, very talented artist whose contemporary abstract pictures, in a variety of media is attracting attention currently at the Leith Gallery at the Shore in Edinburgh. The Exhibition has just opened and runs until 24 October.

His use of colour is quite outstanding and all round this beautifully lit gallery are paintings mostly in mixed media on board simply singing with colours and textures. Titles such as “All my Life”, mixed media on board “Sanguine Days”, predominantly vivid reds, “Slippery Slope” and “Walking ion the Sun” give some hints of how Trevor works.

I asked Trevor the usual question people put to artists about where they find inspiration. “The work is always changes I try to balance colour with relationships and colour psychology plays a big part. I go on with the work until I can’t make any more changes, then I know it’s done.”

Like many good artists when he is not painting Trevor teaches. In his case it is Life Drawing at the highly regarded Leith School of Art. He is also involved in “Art in Health” a charity which provides original works of art in hospitals and nursing homes. His work is competitively priced and is also available through the Scottish Arts Council “Own Art” scheme with interest free loans and monthly payments of around 10% of the purchase price.

Conversations in Blue

Jan Morrison, who has been operating this very successful gallery for many years has a high opinion of Trevor’s work and has given him plenty of wall space to show it to the best advantage. This Exhibition is well worth a visit!
