Been So Long

“Amazing, feisty, brilliant!” – just some of the audience reaction to “Been so Long” at the Traverse Theatre. With book and lyrics by Che Walker and lyrics and music by Arthur Darvill this Young Vic/Ett production is described as “a neon-soaked musical comedy”. The show has funky music, sizzling dialogue, lots of humour, and great attitude. Five characters in search of a love life, they come together in the soon -to- close Arizona bar, and bring us love, lust, revenge, and a fantastic show. Soul singer Omar plays lovelorn barman Barney, Cat Simmons is the central love interest Simone, Naana Agyei-Ampadu is amazing as the scorching sexpot Yvonne while Arinze Kene struts his stuff as the irresistible stud Raymond. That leaves Harry Hepple as Gil the nerd, quite the central point for moving along the action. With a trio of boop-a-doop backing vocals and a great band the show explodes into an on-stage party. Enjoy!
