Cosying Up to a New Fire

While we are still in the throes of the winter weather, it’s not a bad idea to stay indoors, avoid the icy roads and the unpleasant ills and snuggle up with a good book in front of a cosy fire. DRU Fires, the Netherlands-based manufacturer of contemporary domestic fires, has announced several new models for 2008, including electric fires, gas fires and stoves.

Metro 80e frameless electric fire
Metro electric fire
The Metro 80e is an electric version of the Metro, one of the best selling DRU gas fires. It is a frameless, ‘hole-in-the-wall’ contemporary fire designed to fit either a standard or false chimney breast. It is glass-fronted, operated by remote control, and has an adjustable heat output of 2 kW, enough to heat an average sized living room.

An important feature of all DRU electric fires is the unique, realistic flame picture, generated by eco-friendly LED technology. With the Metro 80e there are 16 different flame height settings and up to 100,000 flame pattern variations, so the fire appears to be constantly changing. In addition, there is a beautiful deep, glowing fire bed with a choice of natural twigs or white pebbles.

The Metro 80e flame picture has an electricity consumption of just 15 watts, less than an average light bulb! Unlike ordinary electric fires, there is no need to change the bulbs periodically, as the flames are electronically produced. This makes it one of the most economical as well as attractive electric fires that are available.

The Metro 80e will be available in specialist fireplace retailers throughout the UK from the middle of January 2008. It is expected to become one of the best selling fires in the DRU Electric Collection.

Jura is a new electric fire with a glass front and sleek alu-metallic frame. As well as being easy to install into a standard chimney breast, it can also be mounted onto any cavity or stud wall, making it the most versatile fire in the DRU Electric Collection.

Jura also features the exclusive DRU LED flame picture, has an optional 2 kW heat output, and is operated by remote control.

Many new gas fires now available in LPG
Avanto fire
In response to public demand, DRU has adapted many of its popular gas fires such as the Avanto (pictured above), Concerto, Metro 70 and Romano to work with both natural gas and LPG. The list includes balanced flue models that can be installed with or without a chimney and conventional flue models that are designed for a standard chimney.

This is good news for many householders in rural areas who want the style and comfort of a classic fireplace combined with the economy of gas.

New stoves in gas or solid fuel

DRU Fires has announced 2 additions to its growing selection of contemporary and traditional stoves.

Trio (pictured above) is an innovative new freestanding contemporary gas stove that fits both modern and period settings. It has an impressive anthracite finish, a beautiful, 3-sided log fire display and can be run on both natural gas and LPG.

DRU 44 is a traditional cast iron multi-fuel stove that can burn coal, coke or wood. It has an authentic black finish and can also be supplied in other colours by special order. Among its unique features are an ‘air-wash’ system that keeps the window clean and dust free and a cold touch handle for comfort and safety.

All DRU fires are available from specialist fireplace retailers throughout the UK.
